Plant life in water is prolific as well as varied, thanks to the profusion of marine flora. From sea weeds to the myriad exotic species dotting the various wet lands and marsh lands around the world, the sheer variety of plant life in water is amazing, all the more so because so few of us are acquainted with them. Water plants also have another use: they are used to beautify gardens and private and public buildings.

As a matter of fact, a whole lot of employment opportunities are generated from activities closely associated with supporting and nurturing water plants and putting them to effective use commercially or otherwise. Marine botany is one stream that provides a host of job opportunities, requiring the marine botanists to work in different areas from academic institutions, and government, to industry, aquariums or their own businesses. Marine botanists engaged in academia are typically required to carry out research on algae, kelp and other underwater plants. They would also of course deliver lectures to students as well.

On the other hand, marine botanists, who work for the government or industry, carry out research, help with educational activities and provide consultation on all relevant matters. There can also be self employed marine biologists who are responsible for marketing a product or provide expert advice. In fact, the ambit of marine botany has greatly expanded to include things like the use of seaweed in industry, pharmaceuticals, plastics, toothpastes and so on.



Water plants which are an important part of many gardens and interior decoration plans of many a building, need specialists to nurture and support them. Take the job of a Water Distribution Technician. He needs to have two to five years experience and expertise in installation and maintenance of water plants. High school level education will suffice.

Water plants are sold by specialists, as one needs expertise to be able to advise buyers about how to care for the plants and make the necessary arrangements for growing them. Judging by the growing popularity of water plants all over the world, a lot of whole sellers and retailers are employing people to meet the ever growing demand. There are also a host of people employed in providing various types of pond treatments, while others sell plant food and algae reducing fertilizers. Hence, you can see that the section of water plants specialty gainfully employs a lot of people.

Water plants are a considerable source of employment all over the world, whether it is the immense importance of work carried out by scientists and specialist botanists in not only protecting bio diversity, as also developing new uses for water plants.

On the other hand, there is the huge demand for water plants for ornamentation and decorative purposes, and that too provides employment to technicians, marketers, and maintenance and repair professionals. What is noteworthy is the fact that the scope of jobs is highly diverse requiring an equally diverse range of skills. Everyone from students of high school to those with university degrees, novices with little or no experience or highly trained specialists with years of experience can take up this job, provided they have an interest in marine plant life.
