JMT seeks a Water/Wastewater Leader in Philadelphia to grow our emerging corporate profile of diverse skills and capabilities through our existing presence within eastern Pennsylvania. This position offers the right candidate a great opportunity to join a progressive, employee-owned, flexible firm as we continue to grow. This individual will manage the business development activity and will direct engineering and production as we serve our local and regional water utility clients in the eastern Pennsylvania. Candidate will be responsible for the overall vision and financial success of an operating department. The candidate will possess or develop a regional industry leadership role and be responsible for building a technical water engineering staff and integrating into our existing water engineering practice. Travel requirements for this position will include the integration into JMT’s corporate office and as necessary to expand our profile in the region.

Job Responsibilities

Marketing / business development to establish JMT’s market presence with new clients; Building on existing water utility engineering contracts and clientele

Assessing the regional market, preparing, maintaining and executing a development plan tailored to the technical capabilities of JMT and the water utility needs of the market

Preparing statements of qualifications, expressions of interest, technical proposals and presentations

Projecting and advancing JMT’s presence in the market through meaningful participation in water utility industry leadership and activities

Assisting in the recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervision of staff

Supervising the preparation of preliminary and final studies and reports, engineering drawings and specifications, and cost estimates for water infrastructure projects

Performing project management duties, including client and sub-consultant coordination; coordinating with public agencies; attending client meetings; and visiting job sites

Preparing estimates, establishing cost controls and maintaining project budgets and schedules; implementing quality control practices; managing and controlling sub-consultant contracts

Required Skills

Ability to analyze and track client capital programs and budgets and develop and execute project teaming strategies, proposal coordination, to secure contracts to serve those needs

Proven successful performance, developing clients, and successfully delivering projects

Understanding of consulting engineering business, and P/L structure and principles

Comprehensive command of water utility engineering challenges faced by water managers in the 21st century

Established working knowledge of water/wastewater utility management principles and organization, operations and technologies

Possess specific market knowledge in the Philadelphia and surrounding regions

Comprehensive knowledge of the following subject and practice areas: pipeline assessment and rehabilitation, watershed planning, NPS water quality management, stormwater utilities, water/wastewater treatment, pumping stations, water reclamation and reuse, water transmission, storage and distribution systems

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program

Professional Engineer License or equivalent

10 years’ experience in specialized discipline

Project management and business development experience

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
