GEI Consulting Engineers is seeking an entry-level hydrologist or water resources engineer with strong technical skills to support our dam safety, hydraulics and hydrology team.



Essential Responsibilities & Duties:


  • Under the supervision of a senior engineer

  • Execute technical projects and assignments in coordination with project managers and support staff;

  • Conduct technical hydrology and hydraulic analysis, review hydrology studies, reservoir operations and riverine hydraulic studies;

  • Prepare detailed written memoranda and reports on technical assignments and present technical information to peers and clients.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Knowledge and experience with hydrology, hydraulics and reservoir operations for flood management within California s Central Valley. Ability to assist in field work for levee and dam safety review;

  • Strong technical analysis skills, including ability to develop hydraulic and hydrologic models, perform dam safety studies, and develop and interpret hydrologic data;

  • Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software including USGS – PRMS, HEC- HMS, HEC-ResSim, HEC-RAS or custom applications;

  • Computer programming expertise or experience developing computer scripts and programs is a plus;

  • Excellent communication skills; clear and effective technical writing and presentation development; ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, project teams, and clients; ability to successfully formulate and execute technical assignments with minimal oversight and direction; desire to acquire and apply new skills and techniques with application to project assignments.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • 0-2 years of experience (advanced degree or work) demonstrating skills mentioned above

  • B.S in Civil Engineering or water resources related field is required

  • M.S. in Civil engineering or water resource related field is desirable

  • Registered California Civil Professional Engineer or ability to obtain
