Essential Duties & Job Functions: Directs the work of other Water / Waste Water department employees. Ensures employee compliance with safety, security, property and material management, time and attendance, and other applicable corporate, federal, state and contract specific regulations. Accomplishes work in accordance with authorized Work Orders for Service Orders (SO), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Standing Operating Orders (SOO). Complies with work schedules and contract requirements for response and performance. Reviews work in progress and completed work to ensure accomplishment in the most effective and efficient manner. Interfaces with other departments, customers and government representatives as required to achieve maximum productivity and reduction of lost time. Monitors work to ensure quality and the control of cost, including minimization of overtime/lost time and effective use of tools, equipment, and materials. Ensures subordinate employee time records reflect an accurate record of hours worked and job order numbers to which time is charged. Controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption and for industrial use. Pumps purified water into water mains. Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treating plant. Injects specified amounts of chemicals, such as chlorine and potassium permanganate into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect and clarify water. Monitors panel board and adjusts controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation. Cleans tanks and filter beds, using backwashing (reverse flow of water). Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment, using hand and power tools. Tests water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities, using colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter. Records data, such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity, and water pressure. May operate portable water-purification plant to supply drinking water. Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment lagoon to control flow and processing of sewage. May collect sewage sample, using dipper or bottle and conduct laboratory tests, using testing equipment, such as pH meter and dissolved oxygen meter. Inventories and requisitions supplies necessary for the effective operation of the water / waste water area. Performs related work as assigned. Accountable For: Researching, analyzing, interpreting, and applying rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommending timely and economical solutions. Understanding federal, state and contract specific Regulations in regards to water and wastewater treatment operations. Planning and organizing work and coordinating the work of other water / waste water operatives. Using common office equipment including, copiers, fax machines, and computers. Communicating effectively orally and in writing. Successfully completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives. Timely and cost effective performance of duties. Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work. Ensuring compliance with company safety regulations. Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. Adherence to established CGS, LLC safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices. Compliance with CGS, LLC Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures. Demonstrating skill in the use of MS Word and Excel at the intermediate or higher level. Effectively coordinating a number of projects simultaneously. Demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure. Qualifications Mandatory High School Diploma or equivalent. Level II Water Treatment Operations Certificate. Level I Waste Water Treatment Certification. Three (3) years previous relevant experience in managing a water/waste water operation. Previous supervisory experience. Current valid state issued driveru2019s license with acceptable driving record. Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. Ability to pass National Agency Check with Inquiries. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Preferred Technical or Trade School training.
