HDR is in need of an Engineer Intern (EIT) – Water / Wastewater – UMS to join our Water Business Group team in Raleigh, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, NC. Ideal candidate will have a technical interest in hydraulic modeling and analysis. The EIT will be responsible for assisting with projects through planning including: conduct water distribution and wastewater collection systems modeling; collect, assimilate and present data in reports, memos and client forums; prepare hydraulic calculations and technical reports; and assist as needed with providing hydraulic analysis input into the design of water and wastewater facilities including pump stations, force mains, distribution systems, and storage tanks. This individual should be comfortable working on diverse teams of professionals and technicians. Other tasks include:• Detailed GIS Analysis and Excel-based data analysis.• Working with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Marketing Staff and other team members on various utility planning, asset management, and utility management service-related projects and pursuits for federal, state and local municipalities. Deliver technical products that meet or exceed client expectations. • Performing analysis of large utility GIS, maintenance, or condition assessment databases to support inspection, condition assessment, and planning programs','!*!BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering required. MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering a plus. EI required0 to 4 years of water/wastewater project experience, focus on hydraulic modeling and GIS preferredRequires excellent communication, business skills, team building, and project team skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access). Hydraulic modeling software a plus (EPAnet, EPASWMM, Innoyvze products, Bentley products, MIKE products, etc.)Strong general computer skills and interest in learning many different software packages. Experienced in technical writing for report preparation.Must have excellent communication skills and thrive working in a team environment.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
