About the Job

Texas Instruments (TI) is looking for an experienced water treatment engineer to join the engineering team at the Central Utilities site.

The engineering team is responsible for providing engineering support to the operations and sustaining team for utility and energy efficiency and solutions for all TI manufacturing and non-manufacturing facilities.

The senior water treatment engineer primary role is to provide technical and consulting services including process expertise related to water treatment systems. Water treatment systems include Chilled Water, Hot Water, Boilers, Steam, Heat Exchangers, Media Filtration, Ion Exchange, Membrane Desalination, Water Treatment Chemicals Injection, Testing, Dosing, monitoring, Control, SCADA, Cooling water, Condensate, process cooling and blend water treatment.

Responsibilities include:

Working closely with engineering and operations personnel to understand needs and produce designs and services to meet these expectations.

Review existing systems to identify potential problems, remedies to existing problems, and conduct continuous improvement studies and execute projects.

Provides capital and operations program leadership by originating and carrying out initiatives to improve performance, system optimization, and increase revenue to achieve best in class within Semiconductor Industry.

Evaluate best practices and advanced technologies and incorporate them into TI’s standards to be implemented in operation and maintenance of ChW, HW, Steam, RO, DI Plants Fabs and Semiconductor manufacturing complexes.

Develop the conceptual design for scoping of new projects, review and approve the engineering calculations and design packages by engineering contractors.

Deliver presentations to international audiences of experts and publish technical papers.

Mentor junior engineers, and deliver in-house training courses.

Work independently and create a positive work environment.

Act as a technical advisor and provide timely operational support to TI facilities.

Demonstrate excellent technical report writing and presentation skills.

Evaluate capabilities of vendors/contractors to offer their services to TI.

Ready to take up special assignments to different TI organizations.

Become a key part of the manufacturing and engineering team.

Coordinate and deliver projects for the scale up of laboratory, pilot plant and existing manufacturing processes as aligned with the rapid business growth objectives.

Achieve plant wide improvements for all aspects of operations with an emphasis on quality, environment, health and safety.

Work closely with the manufacturing, operations and system owners to identify opportunities for reclaim water use and water conservation in cooling towers, scrubbers and other suitable applications.

Initiate conceptual and feasibilities studies, implement and execute capital and expense projects to promote water and energy conservations.

Partner with the sustaining department and plant operations to identify process improvements with high reliability.

Partner and work with the controls engineer to maintain, revise, upgrade control logic and SOO to optimally operate the facilities with respect to water treatment.

Manage project finances, procurement, estimates, forecasting, and capitalization

Complete projects safely and reliably with zero impact to customer operations.

Strong communication and coordination skills to plan and execute


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree (advanced degree preferred) in chemical, chemistry or environmental engineering.

7 years of industry experience in the area of water treatment systems design, implement, test, monitor and control in addition to a strong operating background

Demonstrate experience, preferably in Semiconductor industry, with several years of full responsibility over the water treatment systems, such that the incumbent is clearly recognized as subject matter expert

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Up-to-date engineering knowledge of the design, operation and troubleshooting of and more of the following water treatment systems; Chilled Water, Cooling Tower Water, Media Filtration, Ion Exchange, Membrane Desalination, DI, Water Treatment Chemicals Injection, treatment monitoring, dosing, testing and Control Systems, SCADA, Steam, Condensate, Hot Water, Process Cooling Water and Blend Water Treatment etc.

Knowledge of applicable international procedures, regulations, codes, and standards

Familiarity with industry wide process simulation software for utility systems design, sizing, chemical analysis, assessment and diagnosis
