Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Project Manager to join our Water Business Group in Southwest Florida. We would prefer for this role to be based in Sarasota, but will also consider Tampa. The primary duties of the Project Manager are to independently lead and supervise teams of engineers, scientists, drafters and support professionals throughout the project lifecycle of assessment, planning, design, bidding, construction, start-up and operational support.  Your work will help address client needs for treatment, conveyance and storage projects associated with drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems. Your responsibilities will include:

• Independently coordinating the work of engineers and the balance of the multi-

    discipline project team throughout the entire project development.

• Developing and executing QA/QC plans for each project; and working directly

    with the owner to ensure that the project meets or exceeds the owner’s 

    expectation.

• Engaging externally in the professional water community to identifying new

    talent and new business opportunities.

• Developing and mentoring engineering staff.

• Establishing client relations with involvement in marketing and contract

    negotiations.

• Leading client meetings and reviews with various governing agencies. 

• Conducting work sessions for design development and contract document in

   conjunction with other staff. 

• Tracking the financial aspects of the projects, and coordinating and adjusting

   the work effort with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the

   parameters of the agreed to schedule and budget.

• Working with a Project Controller and the Area leadership for project reviews

   and with company management on an as needed basis.

*LI-SM1','!*!Required Qualifications:

BS in civil, environmental, mechanical or related engineering field required.

PE required including available reciprocity to obtain Florida PE within 6 months.

7 years in the design of complex municipal water infrastructure projects.

Strong technical background and experience in designing treatment systems, water distribution systems, and wastewater collection systems and water resource related projects.

Proven project leadership, project management (staffing, schedule and budget) and mentoring skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience with MS Office, MS Project required.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. 

Excellent team player with ability to function effectively in a variety of roles on integrated project teams.

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

Local candidates are preferred. 

Master’s degree in civil, environmental, mechanical or related engineering fields preferred.

5 years of project leadership after receiving PE

Strong business development and strategic planning skills with ability to initiate and develop long term client relationships, prepare proposals and presentations, and develop new business.
