Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking creative, highly talented Water Treatment Plant Operators for a potential project anticipated to start in July 2018 for a project in Glendive, MT. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.
Performs repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facility systems.
Performs work based on dispatched service or daily/weekly work schedules.
Reviews work as required to document specific needs (materials, supplies, instructions, etc).
Assists in the movement of furniture, materials, and equipment as required.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Works with or oversees subcontractor activities as directed by supervisor or work schedule.
Additional Specific operator duties:
Control treatment plant machines and equipment to treat water for industrial use: Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treating plant.
Monitor that specified amounts of chemicals are being supplied as required such as chlorine, ammonia, and lime into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
Starts agitators to mix chemicals and allows impurities to settle to bottom of tank.
Turns valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities.
Monitor the pumping of treated water through the effluent / outfall.
Monitors panelboard and adjusts controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure and water elevation, and distribution of water.
Cleans tanks and filter beds, using backwashing.
Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
Tests water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities, using colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter.
Operate centrifuge as required to process solids.
Record miscellaneous data as required.
Participate in finalizing / developing procedures for the operation of the treatment facility.
Adhere to the site’s General Site Conditions.
Adhering to the plant’s O&M, Waste Management and Health and Safety Plan
Oversee contractors as required.
Assist in resolving issues or problems concerning the operation of the treatment facility.
Capable of functioning with spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
High school graduate or demonstrated equivalent.
Experience:
2 years of water treatment plant operations experience.
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor and indoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, noise, moist, dry, dust, and chemicals; position requires frequent standing/walking, climbing stairs, and using portable ladders (weight must be 300 lbs or less); often operating vehicles, and working alone in isolated areas; occasionally power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), working at heights, wearing fall protection (weight must be 310 lbs or less), working in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, working in a confined space, performing keyboard/mouse operations, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, and lifting of less than 25 pounds; rarely working with arms above shoulder level, repetitive bending & stooping, and lifting of 25-50 pounds.
Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection, fall protection and chemical/Acid suit.
Ability to work regular business hours, in addition to occasional weekends and nights.
Preferred Qualifications
Montana wastewater operators license

Per diem support is not available for this position.
Relocation benefits are available for this position.
