In this role you will support modeling, design, and regulatory compliance projects related to: stormwater management and water rights/water resources. Colorado has a unique and complex water resources history, which results in complicated water rights issues and implementation of water development projects throughout the state.
Typical work areas might include:
Participate in environmental resource analyses for NEPA-related projects
Depending on subject matter experience, prepare or review technical analyses of terrestrial biology, wetlands, aquatic biology, or water resources.
Participate in water rights engineering analyses including historical consumptive use quantification, review of proposed decrees and augmentation plans, and substitute water supply plans.
Participate in water supply planning projects involving hydrologic modeling and manipulation of large datasets.
Water Quality sampling (field work)
Data analysis and interpretation for water quality purposes
Regulatory compliance reviews including permits, data, technical reports and regulations
Participate in client and internal meetings to advance project work, and prepare meeting notes.
Prepare written reports and technical memorandums to document analyses and recommendations
Participate in work groups and organizations to benefit the company’s knowledge of issues and to understand client needs.
Desired Skills and Experience:
M.S. or B.S. degree in engineering or related science with 0 to 3 years of related experience in the water resources field.
Experience in numerical modeling of surface water hydrology and hydraulics, including rainfall-runoff, open channel, and sewer transport processes.
US EPA SWMM 5 training a plus.
GIS training and/or experience with AutoCAD
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Access, and data management
Programming skills a plus (Python, Visual Basic, FORTRAN)
Strong written communication skills and experience producing technical reports.
Flexibility to work in other service areas such as infrastructure, wastewater, and/or potable water preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a team environment.
