Our client is a privately-owned, multinational leader in the frozen food industry. We are seeking an Waste Water Treatment Plant Technician for their rapidly expanding facility in Idaho. This facility is going through rapid capital changes and they have an immediate need for a career-oriented Waste Water Tech. The Waste Water Technician assists in the operation of machinery and systems that convert waste water in drains and sewers into a form that is safe to release into the environment. Rural location with access to world class outdoor activities.
The Waste Water Treatment Plant Technician monitors equipment and conditions, adjusting and cleaning equipment, taking samples, performing complex laboratory tests and maintaining documentation and reports required by the Company and applicable regulatory agencies.
Collects waste water samples on a daily basis.
Takes pH and dissolved oxygen readings at various areas within the waste water treatment plant.
Performs chlorine tests and flush analyzers when needed.
Ability to use a sludge judge for reading clarifier depths.
Checks aeration blowers for proper operation and oil levels and maintains them at recommended levels.
Knowledge and ability to operate and adjust pumps and motors that move water and waste water through filtration systems.
Ability to check different types of pumps for oil levels and ensure regular pump maintenance.
Ability to trouble shoot various types of pumps to determine the root cause of the issue.
Assists the Environmental Lead Operator with cleaning the fine bubble diffusion system.
Works collaboratively with Environmental Team to ensure all wastewater testing and maintenance records are complete and up-to-date.
Assists the Waste Water Treatment Lab Technician with some complex process lab analysis.
Monitors Biogas buildings and the Covered Anaerobic Lagoon (CAL) sludge for depth, pH ranges, and gas production within the system.
Monitors the chemical usage for phosphorus removal, chlorine dosage, and sodium bisulfite for dechlorination to assure that our permit is not violated and to assure that costs are kept to a minimum.
Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses when required.
Administers ISO14001 program as directed by the ISO14001 Coordinator.
Associate and/or Technical Degree in environmental systems management or related field; or 5 years plus experience performing tasks similar to those identified as essential functions with demonstrated skills through prior licensing in small systems water or waste water treatment plant license; or requisite combination of experience and education.
Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in an environmental field.
Other Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Understanding of polymer systems and how they work.
Understanding of activated sludge processes.
Knowledge of pumps and motors.
Knowledge of fine bubble diffusion systems and how to clean the system.
Knowledge of anaerobic digesters and how they work.
Understanding of laboratory analytical methods.
Must have basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents) and the aptitude to learn and use new computer programs effectively.
Working knowledge of waste water laboratory analysis and functionality.
Required Certification, Licenses, Registration:
Must have valid state driver’s license.
Must have or obtain at minimum a small systems water license within eighteen (18) months after employment.
Must have or obtain at least a Class One Idaho State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license and Idaho State Waste license within twelve (12) months of employment. Must complete training necessary to maintain the license.
