Through extraordinary guest service and our expert adventure guides, Vermejo provides guests of all ages unparalleled opportunities for outdoor exploration with activities such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing and wildlife viewing for a truly unforgettable Ranch getaway.Summary\/Primary Objective of Position:The ideal candidate will be an experienced water plumber or water system technician that can perform various plumbing projects from start to finish. This position will also require performing general maintenance duties as assigned and working a rotating “On-Call” schedule.The Water Systems Technician\/Plumber will be responsible for compliance, operations and maintenance of the water systems and natural gas systems on Vermejo Park Ranch. Water system compliance, operations and maintenance will include but not be limited to: operation of distribution and disinfection infrastructure for potable water, operation and maintenance of septic systems, coordination of sampling for potable water and septic systems (including daily, monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.) at Headquarters and Costilla Lodge, assistance with operation and maintenance of non-potable lawn irrigation system, and related systems for outlying structures.Gas system maintenance will involve monitoring, maintenance and operations for the natural gas system that services Headquarters and propane systems at Costilla Lodge, WS Headquarters, and other outlying structures.Plumbing responsibilities range from maintenance of existing fixtures and infrastructure to complete renovation of systems as necessary. The Water Technician\/Plumber will proactively establish and support an effective and efficient maintenance system for Vermejo’s water systems with a focus on hospitality operations. The person in this position will be committed to making safety the priority for themselves, the maintenance team and for all residents and guests at Vermejo Park Ranch.Vermejo Park Ranch’s Maintenance Division is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and operations for buildings and infrastructure across 585,000 acres. The Water Technician\/Plumber will work as a member of the Maintenance Division team and will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including: carpentry, electrical, painting, snow removal, vehicle maintenance, landscaping and other duties assigned by Vermejo Management.Primary Responsibilities:Maintenance of all Ranch infrastructure and residential water systems, including sewer systems, culinary water systems, as well as maintenance of the HQ residential natural gas supply system.Oversight of domestic well field, which supplies 40 buildings on the ranch.Installation, operation, and repair of disinfection equipment at HQ Water SystemDaily Chlorine residual sampling, testing and analysesMonthly water quality (microbiological, etc.) testing, reporting, and recordkeeping of domestic water systemMonthly reporting of water usage to Ranch Management and to the regulatory agencies in the State of New MexicoDetailed and organized recordkeeping of water and septic-related records and informationMaintenance and upkeep of water systems, manuals and emergency response plansBiannual septic system reporting, testing of septic monitoring wells and testing of approximately 20 septic systems.Monthly maintenance of Ranch septic systems. Coordination with maintenance manager and contractors for pumping schedule.Plumbing repairs and installation including, but not limited to, sinks, drains, water closets, supply lines and pumps, water and sewer lines.As needed, assistance in repair of lawn irrigation non-potable water systems.Successful candidate should maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times and attend the monthly maintenance safety meetings.Successful candidate will be required to work some weekends and be on a 24-hour “On-Call” rotating schedule.Must be able to operate basic maintenance equipment, including power tools and some heavy equipment.Wildland or Structural Fire Fighting education or experience is desirable, but not mandatory.Other duties as assigned by the maintenance manager requiring equal or lesser skills.Primary responsibilities are subject to change at the discretion of VPR management based on the needs of the Company.Special Skills Required:Certifications Required (or ability to obtain with VPR support): Water Sample Tech 2 (WST2) Certification.Post-Hire Achievement of other Water System Certifications are encouraged and supported by VPR.Flexibility to handle frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work alone or with a team, and taking initiative when appropriate.Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.Willingness to take direction from management.Ability to keep organized recordsAbility to interact cooperatively with agency officials regarding water and wastewater operations, e.g. NMED, Raton Water Works.Experience with Microsoft Office.Language Skills Required:Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal.Education Required:Ten years of related experience and\/ or training.Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.Associate’s Degree or Journeyman Plumber’s License preferred.Physical Demands:Requires lifting more than 50 lbs.Requires being on feet and moving 10 or more hours per shift.Physical activities include walking, talking, seeing, hearing, reaching, stooping, lifting, and carrying.Must be able to facilitate actions responding to emergency situations in a timely manner.Other:The successful candidate must possess a valid New Mexico Driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Driving record must meet the standards of New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles and the requirements of Turner Enterprises, Inc. insurance carrier.The successful candidate will be required to sign a confidentiality statement.Work schedule may include some weekends.The successful candidate must present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire, pursuant to federal law. Applicants and employees may be requested to undergo a diagnostic test for the presence of non-prescribed drugs at any time during employment or pre-employment, (when applicant is offered a position, but before the applicant has commenced work).Company housing will not be provided, but may be provided in the future.
