Lead Instrumentation Engineer
International supplier of industrial gases and energy process plants seeks experienced Lead Instrumentation Engineer with a solid background in industrial gas plant design and construction. Travel is a requirement: must be willing to travel in the US and overseas.
Primary job responsibilities: Participate in the engineering design and execution of projects with specific focus on design and specification of field instrumentation, analyzer systems. Perform engineering calculations, field investigations, and assigned tasks. Scopes instrumentation and analytical requirements for control system estimating and proposal preparation. Work with instrument vendors to ensure internal and industry standards are followed. Review designs and systems to ensure technical quality, safety, completeness and reliability concerns. Design company-wide standards and installation procedures. Control panel design and supervision of panel fabrication. Perform engineering quality checks on engineering deliverables and material. Support commissioning and startup activities. Communicate both verbally and in written form in a professional manner. Report directly to senior management with ongoing status reports, with an emphasis on completing assigned project phases within budgeted time and cost constraints. Will be required to travel outside of the State of New Jersey and/or United States as part of customary job duties. Participate in departmental training programs/ seminars and on-line training.
BS in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical with Control Systems, Instrumentation preferred.)
experience in the industrial gas plant industry.
Ex-military experience a plus.
Experience in specifying and selecting plant instrumentation.
Experienced in designing standards and installation procedures.
Experience with dealing and managing work with contractors and/or instrument vendors.
Understanding of P&ID content and format, including ISA symbology for hardware and software.
Demonstrated industry knowledge of equipment, technical and safety standards.
Strong work ethic and teamwork. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Suite: Outlook, Word, and Excel). Knowledge of Smart Plant Instrumentation (NTools) is highly desirable. Good quantitative and analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision; must be a self starter and quick learner.
