Job Description Shift: These positions are first shift 8-4pm during the licensing training period. Upon completion of the license the licensed candidate will move to the 8am-8pm shift, or the 8pm-8am shift or cover either as needed.
The Plant Operator will have the following responsibilities:
• Check treatment plant operation at frequent intervals to determine that all equipment is operating properly.
• Make operational corrections.
• Maintain a supply of chemicals in the chemical day tanks and checks on proper feeding.
• Read meters, and maintain records on pumping, chemicals used, tank levels.
• Perform chemical tests at specified intervals and records results.
• Oversee chemical deliveries.
• Clean, adjust and maintains treatment plant equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Backwash filters and adjusts flow rates when necessary.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
The pay rate is from $23.31 to $28.34 based upon experience as per the union
Qualifications A Current Rhode Island Treatment Operator 2 or 3 Water Certificate, or a comparable license that can be reciprocated. Other state certifications acceptable as well!
• A Valid drivers license,
• High school Diploma or equivalent, College degree preferred.
• Basic knowledge of pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, and other pumping equipment and skill in their operation.
• Experience in a laboratory setting.
• Mechanical ability, accuracy, thoroughness, carefulness and good judgment, and ability to work well: alone or with others.
